How do I request an item to be held for pickup?

In lieu of browsing the Library's print and media collections, you can use OneSearch to find and request an item to pick up. Library staff will retrieve the item from the stacks and notify you when it is ready to be picked up at the first floor Service Desk.

1. Make sure you are logged in to OneSearch: your name will appear on the upper right-hand corner when you are successfully logged in.

2. To find available items, search for your item and select "Held by Library" on the left side. Look for the following message:

"Available at Dwight Marvin Library Circulating Collection"

3. Click on the title. In the Find it section, click the "Hold Item for Pick-up" link:

4. A form will appear. Click the green "Send Request" button.

5. The Library will send an email to your HVCC account when the item is available. Requests are generally filled within one business day.

If you have any questions about placing a request, please contact the Library Service Desk at (518) 629-7336 or library-service-desk@hvcc.edu.
