What is a citation and where should I go for help citing sources?

A citation is a reference to the source of the information you used in your work. A citation should be included any time you quote, paraphrase or summarize a source. Most citations include, the author(s), title of the work, source, date and url address to the source. The exact requirements are determined by the citation style. If you are unsure which citation style to use, check your assignment and ask your professor.

For help with citing sources see the example citations on the library's Cite Your Sources research guide.
